Mentally accepting that your workout is going to hurt is the only way to push through the pain barrier and build a better body, says Ben Pakulski

Turn off any distractions ahead of your session because you need to achieve a higher mental state of focus and determination to push yourself harder than you have done before. Modern life constantly tries to distract you and you need to learn to block it all out. Spending just five minutes clearing your head and mentally preparing for the challenge of the session ahead will make a phenomenal difference to your performance.
Get your head right and your body will respond. You need to visualise what you are going to do in the gym, how it’s going to make your muscles feel, accept that there’s going to be some pain today, and have a cast-iron idea of what you want to walk out of the gym having achieved.
Accept it’s going to hurt because once you do you reassure your central nervous system that you are going to go outside of your comfort zone, but it’s nothing to be afraid of. Your muscles have felt the burn before, and they are going to again. Accepting that this pain is only temporary, and it is ultimately moving you closer towards your goal, allows you to not only enjoy it but eventually learn to love it.
